State Rep. Cam Cavitt, R-Cheboygan, is hosting an art contest for local high school students. The winner will be invited to Lansing to be a legislator for a day. Students are tasked with creating an art piece that captures the essence of Northeast Michigan.

All entries are due March 31. The competition is open to all students in grades 9 through 12 in Cheboygan, Montmorency, Presque Isle, Alpena, Oscoda, and Alcona counties. Any art form is accepted, except photography.

The winner of the contest will have the exciting opportunity to be a “Legislator for the Day” and spend the day with Rep. Cavitt. They will receive a tribute from the governor, have their photo taken on the House floor, and participate in other activities throughout the day.

Participants should send a photo of their submission to [email protected] or mail their submission to Cavitt’s office, P.O. Box 30014 in Lansing, MI 48909-7514
