“It’s an honor to be entrusted with this important committee that plays an essential role in building the futures of Michigan’s children,” DeBoer said. “I am passionate about ensuring every child in our state has an equal opportunity for success and every parent is at the forefront of their kids’ education.”

“Inflation has skyrocketed in recent years, and families need relief,” DeBoer said. “As representatives, it is our job to fight for positive change in the lives of the people we represent, and that’s exactly what this plan does.”

“The police are among our greatest allies when it comes to school safety,” DeBoer said. “Ensuring they are helping lead the charge when it comes to improving the safety of our schools is a no-brainer. Their invaluable involvement will make schools a much safer place for students, teachers and staff.”

I’m deeply disappointed by the heartless approach this School Aid Conference Committee has had toward pivotal school safety and mental health funding – a topic that should be unifying for all legislators, regardless of political ideology.

“It was an honor to welcome these exemplary members of our local fire safety teams to attend our 9-11 memorial ceremony,” DeBoer said. “We can’t thank our public safety officers and first responders enough for all they do to keep us safe. It’s a fitting time for this ceremony as we continue to remember and honor the heroes who responded to the tragic attacks on America 23 years ago today.”

“Our local schools are also seeing their school safety and mental health funding dramatically slashed by more than 90%,” DeBoer said during a speech on the House floor. “We cannot wait for another tragedy to happen to continue funding school safety and mental health support. Our actions and support for student safety must be continuous and proactive to prevent future devastating events.”

Rep. DeBoer is celebrating the Revitalization and Placemaking Program grant that was awarded to the City of Holland for the Holland Community Ice Skating Park. The RAP grant comes from Michigan’s Economic Development Fund. A total of $800,000 is expected to go to the ice rink project.

Rep. DeBoer welcomed Park Township Fire Chief Scott Gamby to the Michigan State Capitol for the annual House of Representatives 9-11 Memorial Ceremony on Thursday.

Rep. DeBoer voted against the state budget proposal brought forth by House Democrats in majority Wednesday, which she said drains the state’s multibillion-dollar surplus, creates unnecessary and unsustainable programs, and neglects the most essential needs in Michigan communities.
