State Rep. Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) on Thursday voted in favor of bills that prohibit sanctuary city policies in Michigan and ensuring state resources are used to uphold the rule of law.

“Michigan communities must not become safety nets for individuals who break the law,” said Wozniak. “Sanctuary policies undermine law enforcement, compromise public safety, and violate the trust of law-abiding citizens. This legislation makes it clear that the rule of law matters in our state.”

House Bills 4340 through 4342 would limit the ability of local governments to enact policies that hinder the enforcement of federal immigration laws. The measures would also restrict state funding and services for local governments or organizations that adopt such policies.

“Our communities deserve to feel safe and know that our laws are being enforced fairly and consistently,” said Wozniak “These policies are about protecting Michigan families and ensuring accountability at every level of government.”
